This particular lot was a top finalist in the famed coffee auction, “The Cup of Excellence.” An amazing competition that recognizes & rewards world class farmers for cultivating unique & often exotic tasting coffees. We've been purchasing through auctions like the Cup of Excellence since 2014.It's a great way for us to connect & start long term relationships with amazing farmers and score top notch coffees!
Our farm partner in El Salvador, Jorge Rubio, brought us a sample of La Bonita and we immediately knew this was a Crème de la Crème - unique, delicious, and rare. La Bonita has consistently placed high in the competition for 3 consecutive years, scoring on average 89/100 points. In the cup you can expect a sweet floral & caramel aroma, notes of plum, honey, orange, black forest cake & vanilla with a mild acidity and a full bodied finish.
La Bonita is produced by Norelvia Angelica Elias De Diaz, a female coffee farmer who started her farm in 2016 in the Alotepec Metapan region of El Salvador. From the start she had intentions to pursue high quality specialty coffee. She planted rare coffee varieties such as Pacamara, Geisha, SL28 & SL 34. This Pacamara lot is grown in a lush & natural environment at 1900 masl, making it a very hard & dense bean. It is common to see wild animals throughout the farm including deer, racoons, fish, and even a panther every now & again.
