One of our goals here at Vigilante is to continue to purchase directly from female coffee producers. We are stoked for this limited release coming from Huila, Colombia. A region we have been sourcing coffee from for 6 years. Huila is the largest specialty coffee producing region in Colombia. However it is not only known for the quantity it produces, but also for the amazing quality. Huila is important for many reasons; the Magdalena River, Colombia’s largest river, is born there, the Nevado del Huila, Colombia’s third highest peak is located in the region, but most importantly, Huila was the birthplace of specialty coffee in Colombia.
Very few coffees we cup achieve a score of 90 points or above. This coffee achieved a score of 92 points making it a Vigilante Crème de la Crème coffee. Fabiola is a dedicated producer who is committed to sustainably producing her coffees and striving for perfection with each harvest season. The micro-climate, varietals (with the exception of Pink Bourbon), and process are nothing out of the norm for coffees from Huila but Fabiola’s focus and dedication to quality is truly what sets this coffee apart. The cup characteristics include cane sugar, caramel, passion fruit, and nectarine citrus, with a syrupy body and a clean, lingering aftertaste that has you looking for one more sip! This coffee is so versatile it will work on almost any brew method.
