The Hydro Natural is a Guatemalan grown coffee from our friends at Finca La Senda. An experimental natural process coffee that has us returning for more each year. This year's lot offers a delicious cup with warm brownie aromatics, tasting notes of nougat, honeycomb and vanilla with a mild acidity and creamy mouthfeel.
We’ve been purchasing coffee from La Senda for the past three years. A 25 hectare farm in the little village called El Socorro, about an hour drive from Acatenango.For decades Don Arnoldo, the owner of La Senda, and his wife sold their production as cherries to the local co-op. However, the resulting income barely covered production cost so they decided to build a wet mill and process their own coffee at the farm. That allowed them to begin experimenting with processing and to pursue the highest quality possible for their coffee. The Hydro Natural is the result of over 100 experiments in the pursuit of creating a very delicious natural process coffee that offers clarity in the cup. We would like to salute them for their hard work - it has certainly paid off!
